Patrick Mahomes II was born on 17 September 1995 to Pat Mahomes (father) and Randi Martin (mother) at Tyler, Texas.

His father, Pat, used to be a Major League Baseball player.

Mahomes attended Whitehouse high school, Smith County, Texas.

He started as a baseball player in high school and was a top prospect who was thought to be following in his father’s footsteps, being that his father played baseball until 2009 after ranking as high as #25 in 1992.

Mahomes was ranked 419 among prospects in 2014 when he came out of high school and was very passionate about American football even though he could play basketball.

His father made sure he did not influence his son’s sports career choice since he observed the kid loved and wanted to play American football.

Pat just gave his son all the support he needed knowing he could have succeeded in professional baseball as well.

Texas Tech College (2014–2016)

Mahomes enrolled at Texas tech university after high school.

He was selected for the 2014 Major League Baseball draft by Detroit Tigers, but he didn’t put the pen down on paper with them as he was more interested in football.

Mahomes started out as a backup to Davis Webb in his freshman year.
